Improving Your Well-Being Through Dental Health
We're absolutely convinced that your dental condition affects your overall
well-being and health. That's why we focus on helping you obtain good
dental health for life, regardless of your age. We're meticulous in examining
your teeth, gums and bone structure. We can provide everything from gum
care services, restorative dental work and preventive care to appearance
related improvements that directly affect your smile. In fact, we use
advanced technologies like an intra-oral camera and high- powered magnification
to see precisely what's going on in your mouth. And we emphasize practicing
good prevention techniques, both in the office and at home.
Preventive Care Services
Good oral hygiene is the key to preventing tooth decay and gum disease,
so we stress two kinds of preventive care: thorough in-office cleanings
with soft tissue management, plus careful home-care habits.
Cleaning or Hygiene. Good oral hygiene is the key to preventing
tooth decay and gum disease, so our highly trained hygienists stress
two kinds of preventive care: thorough in-office cleanings with soft
tissue management, plus careful home-care habits, including a
Sonicare toothbrush, and careful flossing.
Regular Checkups. We regularly check each of our patients for
periodontal disease and keep written records to monitor their condition.
We also emphasize regular recall appointments.
Patient Education. We want you to understand what we're doing
prior to any treatment. That's why we spend time in instruction, via
dental DVDs and use of the intra-oral camera. After treatment, we provide
helpful homecare information as well.
Restorative Services
Dr. Pearsall’s objective in restorative care is to restore your smile,
relieve your pain, and repair weak, broken or moving teeth. This first
requires that he apply his expertise and skill in determining which conditions
should be corrected: are there discolored, worn, crooked or chipped teeth?
Gaps? A high or low gum-line? These improvements directly impact your
self-esteem and overall physical health. For example, a proper bite results
in proper digestion, eliminating chronic infection. That’s why dental
health is so important as you get older.
After assessment, Dr. Pearsall will use state-of-the-art techniques and
advanced, durable dental materials to restore your mouth to a healthy
condition. This includes meticulous color matching, to produce the most
beautiful and functional results. And it includes using the most reputable
dental laboratories to fabricate our restorations.
Fillings. We recommend only composite resin fillings for small
and moderate sized areas of decay, as it's strong, durable, and requires
less tooth removal. We don't offer traditional silver/mercury fillings,
which discolor teeth, leak, and may lead to hairline tooth fractures
as well.
Crowns, Onlays & Inlays. A crown is an ideal solution when
decay or fracture has caused a loss in tooth structure. It is stronger,
provides a better biting surface and results in better chewing than
a filling. However, all crowns are not the same. We offer all-porcelain
for beauty, or gold or porcelain fused to gold for extra strength in
molars
Bridges. When a tooth is missing, a porcelain bridge can fill
the space and stabilize remaining teeth, preventing drifting or tilting.
Bridges are superior to partials in that they encourage proper function,
attractive appearance and comfort, while preserving natural teeth and
restores natural form.
Dentures and Partial Dentures. A partial fills the spaces of
missing teeth and provides a good, functional chewing surface, and may
be a viable solution if bone loss prevents crown and bridge work. Full
dentures are a last resort, due to the most patient's reluctance to
tolerating a bare gum ridge.
Dental Implants. Implants can benefit patients with adequate
bone structure to replace anterior teeth, when the implant will also
provide an improved appearance. However, they're not for everyone.
Cosmetic Services
Your smile reflects both your health and your attitude. That's why we
listen to you, discuss your long-term appearance desires, and then work
to apply the most conservative procedures reach the best result. It may
require time and patience, but we're convinced that we can help you project
on the outside who you are on the inside.
Tooth-Colored Fillings. As good as invisible, tooth colored
fillings provide natural beauty, yet require removal of less tooth structure
than dark mercury fillings. Further, they bond to, and strengthen, your
teeth for long-term health.
Porcelain Veneers. Cracked, discolored, crooked or otherwise
unattractive front teeth can be restored to a shapely, white, naturally
beautiful smile…with application of paper-thin porcelain veneers.
Whitening. We can remove stains without changing tooth structure,
through teeth whitening! And it's one of the simplest, non-invasive,
inexpensive ways to obtain a brighter, whiter smile and increased confidence.
Bonding. This is a reversible procedure for closing spaces
between teeth or for giving teeth a more pleasing shape. It can be performed
in one appointment.
All-Porcelain Crowns, Onlays & Inlays. These state-of-the-art,
metal-free options for cosmetic dentistry eliminate dark fillings, black-metal
shading, and dull, lifeless crowns.
Gum Disease
Approximately 70% of our patients have had some form of gum disease
at one time. So, we not only encourage home-care habit improvement,
but provide diagnostic services, in-office therapy, and referrals to
a periodontist, as warranted.
Charting & Diagnostic Services. Through periodic x-rays
and thorough periodontal charting, we assess periodontal bone level,
which aids us in diagnosing asymptomatic dental and gum disease.
In-Office Therapy. We use scaling and root planing to remove
bacteria from root surfaces and periodontal pockets (the space between
the tooth and the gum), leaving the tissue fresh and healthy and avoiding
the need for future surgery.
Technology & Techniques
Dental technology changes daily. That's why Dr. Pearsall regularly attends
continuing-education courses, helping him maintain the knowledge, technology,
and practical experience so essential to excellence in practice.
Intra-Oral Camera. This allows the patient to see inside his
or her own mouth and to help co-diagnose any dental problems.
Patient Education Videos/DVDs. We can provide short video clips
of dental procedures, helping you understand what procedures are available,
and putting gyou at ease with regard to your own treatments.
